Steve says: “Everywhere I go now, the public always come up to me and tell me, often with enormous excitement and enthusiasm, how much they loved the wind up phone calls I used to do during my time on Key 103 and Capital FM telling me in detail which wind up calls they remember best, and how much they miss them, which is very nice. So he’s now launched his own online podcasts, featuring old and new pranks, that fans can download for free on the iTunes music store. Rusholme-born Steve admits he’s “fallen out of love” with commercial radios these days, saying stations just aren’t prepared to take risks. Steve made his name at Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio which became Key 103 and then at Capital FM in London with his cheeky prank calls in the 1990s, including winding up the then Prime Minster Tony Blair. Radio wind-up king Steve Penk has launched his own weekly podcast reliving some of his best prank calls from the past 20 years. ![]()
